CANDIDATE: Any person who files a declaration of candidacy for an elective office of the city; or receives contributions, makes expenditures, or consents to another person to receive contributions or make expenditures to bring about the person’s nomination or election to such office.

CONTRIBUTION: A gift, subscription, donation, loan, advance, or deposit of money or anything of value given to a candidate; a loan made by a candidate deposited to the candidate’s own campaign; and in-kind contribution.

ELECTION: Both primary and general elections.

EXPENDITURES: Any disbursement from contributions; a purchase, payment, distribution, loan, advance, deposit, gift of money, or anything of value made for political purpose.

IN-KIND CONTRIBUTION: Anything of value other than money that is accepted by or coordinated with a candidate. (Ord. 8-1-1995, 8-1-1995; amd. 2003 Code; Ord. 2023-05-010, 5-18-2023)
