The city shall grant to a company applying for a franchise the right and privilege to construct, erect, operate and maintain, in designated areas of the city, poles, wires, cables, underground conduits, meters and other electric fixtures necessary or proper for the maintenance and operation within the city of an electric distribution system, provided the requirements, conditions and limitations of this article are fully met. Such grant of franchise shall be in the discretion of the city in any event. Any franchise granted hereunder shall not be exclusive, and the city reserves the right to grant a similar franchise to any person at any time. (Ord. 1-2-1986)
