ARTICLE G. ZONING ENFORCEMENT OFFICER

There is hereby created the position of zoning enforcement officer to perform, monitor and enforce, with the help of deputies and under the supervision of the community development director, those activities required by the zoning ordinance and not otherwise reserved to other city officials. The zoning enforcement officer shall have authority to carry out all duties of a city building inspector and, in addition, shall carry out, enforce and perform all duties, provisions and mandates contained in the ordinances of the city concerning zoning specifications, including zoning, nuisance and sign regulations. In addition, the zoning enforcement officer and deputies are hereby specifically charged with enforcement of such ordinances and are granted express authority to enforce the provisions of the zoning ordinance, nuisance ordinance or sign ordinance through the issuance of citations in the name of the city. In addition to, or as an alternative to, the issuance of such citations, the zoning enforcement officer and deputies may report any violations of the zoning ordinance, nuisance ordinance or sign ordinance of which they become aware to the director of community development or city attorney, for appropriate enforcement action.
